The Deccan, a region in peninsular India, was a point of convergence for Central and West Asian, European, and South Asian cultures. Through the mid-second millennium of the common era, the age of gunpowder and sail, this multi-religious and multi-linguistic region was incredibly vibrant, and has long been understood as an example of connected histories. This practice course will comprise some lectures, followed by discussions on assigned readings. Part of the evaluation will be based on student presentations on selected themes.
